2020 Summer Services Cancelled

Dear beloved friends of the Mountain View Community Protestant Church,

Due to the current COVID-19 public health restrictions the trustees have decided we will not be holding regular summer services in 2020. This is the first time in more than a century we will worship apart, but it is possible our sanctuary will be open for prayer if and when circumstances change this July and August. The trustees of MVCPC continue to pray for the health and safety of our church family and friends, as well as our beloved mountain community. Don’t be surprised if you hear church bells ringing on a Sunday morning this summer anyway… as a reminder to turn to the Lord for His help. Some of our trustees have discussed opening the building for private prayer whenever possible each Sunday.

As with tens of thousands of other small civic organizations, the pandemic has put our church in a tight financial situation. For the past few years the Preve Family has blessed us with an annual gospel concert and we’ve hosted a church picnic, in addition to our traditional ice cream social event. Those cancelled events generate the great majority of our income each summer. And of course, we will not be collecting any weekly offering this season. If you are willing to contribute the weekly offerings you planned to give this summer, we would greatly appreciate it. Checks can be mailed to MVCPC, Box 147, Owls Head, NY 12969.

While we will not be holding organized services, we do have a website and a Facebook page and we plan to share any recorded worship resources from our dedicated volunteer ministers and the Preve family on those Internet portals. Watch for them this summer at www.mvcpchurch.org  and on Facebook at *Mountain View Community Protestant Church*

Finally, we hope to continue restoration work this summer as funds allow. While recent repairs have mostly ended our moisture problems in the cellar, the roof needs repair and an old chimney needs to be either shored up or removed. Again, any contributions are welcome. You can specify that your donation goes for the Restoration Fund simply by listing that in the memo line of your check. Or donate online from our website and send us a note that you wish the money to be dedicated to restoration.

We hope to see many of you around the lakes this summer, and we pray for healing for our community and our nation. God Bless.
